I was amazed how much we got to learn in a short time

My husband and I did the acro date night for my husbands birthday! It was a lot of fun and I was amazed how much we got to learn in a short time for a complete beginner. I would love to go back and try some more classes. The instructors were really good at adapting to both my husband and my learning styles.

My husband and I did a couples class (date night) to celebrate our 6 year anniversary. The instructors were nothing short of amazing! We felt welcomed and calmed as soon as we arrived and had an amazing time! I really appreciate the bonding they also incorporate towards the end with my partner and I. We added on “meditation” into our experience and I think it was a good choice for us for the end. I want to do it again! Highly recommend. :)

My high school aged daughter has been taking lessons with Empowered Acro for a few months and absolutely loves it. Katrina and Chris provide a safe and supportive environment to help students of all levels improve their skills and have a great time. We couldn’t be happier with Empowered Acro. Katrina and Chris are fantastic instructors and lovely people! They are extremely knowledgeable and passionate about acro and sharing the art with others! In only one session, my boyfriend and I learned multiple postures and were given the opportunity to both fly and base. We were sore (in a good way) the next day having used new muscles! We’re excited to go back and highly recommend learning from the Empowered Yoga Team!

Chris
Chris stumbled upon acro in 2013 and has since spent thousands of hours practicing and coaching the sport. He is the co-founder of Empowered Acro and a founding board member of local NPO Austin Acro Advocates
Chris sees acro as an efficient way for folks to meet their needs for mental stimulation, physical challenge, nonromantic touch, and social connection. He enjoys sharing the practice of acro with folks of all different ages, sizes, abilities, and skill levels.

Katrina
Katrina was instantly delighted by acro when she was introduced to the activity in 2012. She is the founder of Empowered Acro (est. 2017) and a founding board member of local NPO the Austin Acro Advocates. In addition to her work in Austin, Katrina facilitates international teacher trainings alongside her Seattle-based mentor.
Katrina views acro as a tool for bringing people together and fostering communication, trust, and play within communities. Passionate about improving cooperation on and off the mat, Katrina works by day as an individual psychotherapist & couples counselor.

FAQ
What should I wear?
We find that stretchy, form-fitting workout-wear is best. Avoid clothing with pockets as well as sheer and slippery fabrics. Loose shirts are fine to wear as long as they are long enough to tuck in.
What should I bring with me?
Mats are provided. Water bottles & workout towels are nice to have.
