“Acroyoga” is the word commonly used to describe a practice of partner acrobatics. Acroyoga is also called Partner Acrobatics, Acro Balance, Partner Balance, Partner Yoga, and Acro.
Acroyoga is a cooperative sport that builds strength, flexibility, and trust. Acro is typically practiced in groups and the traditional roles are base, flyer, and spotter.
Acroyoga is a broad category of movement that includes static poses as well as dynamic transitions. Common styles of Acro include: L-basing, Standing Acrobatics, Counterbalances, Icarian, Slackro, and Therapeutics.
Acroyoga technique utilizes body mechanics and the laws of physics to maximize efficiency in partnered movement. In other words: acro is as accessible as it is impressive. People of all different ages, sizes and fitness levels can learn to do acroyoga safely.

Answer: Empowered Acro teaches weekly beginner acroyoga classes on Thursdays 8:00pm-9:30pm at Impact Martial Arts (13376 N Hwy 183 #503, Austin, TX 78750). Private lessons are also available.
Question: Do I need a partner for acroyoga?
Answer: Most acroyoga classes do not require a partner. Participants usually work together in groups of 3–4 to practice basing, flying, and spotting each other.
Question: Can I go to acroyoga by myself?
Answer: Yes, you can go to acroyoga alone. Most classes and workshops do not require a partner.
Question: Can I work with only my partner in an acroyoga class?
Answer: Yes, you and your partner can work together through the entire acroyoga class. You will also be asked to spot other pairs in the classroom. If you would prefer an individualized session, you can book a private lesson.
Question: Do I need yoga experience for acroyyoga?
Answer: No. Yoga experience is not required for acroyoga.
Question: What should I wear to acroyoga?
Answer: Form-fitting athletic clothing (avoid sheer and slick fabrics). Arrive clean with trimmed nails.

Answer: Bring a water bottle, a workout towel, liquid chalk, and a basing wedge.
Question: Can I do acroyoga if I am not flexible?
Answer: Yes, you can do acroyoga if you are not flexible. We offer pose modifications and proide a classroom set of bolsters for comfort and support.

Answer: Yes. Acro is fun and accessible for people of all fitness levels.

Question: What happens if I attend an acroyoga class, but I don’t want to try every pose?
Answer: We respect every individual and their choice to say “no.” If you ever encounter a pose, drill, or exercise that you would rather not participate in - we welcome you to say so.
Question: Can I do acroyoga if I don’t want to base?
Answer: While we encourage participants to try every role, you are not required to do anything you do not want to do. We welcome your “no.”
